Kids always buy stuff with their "own money", but in my option I don't think you have your "own money" till you are completely independent for yourself in a money sense. When you buy an accessories per say, with your own money that is money that will not pay for something that your parents have to pick up the tab again. I don't think kids realize that these days. I know I did not till I got older. Now I try to be as independent as possible with my own money that I worked for, to take some pressure off my parents. I know some won’t agree, but that is my option on the matter.

I agree with what you are saying, but some parents rather their children not work while in school at least my parents won't let me. But being independent is great. It helps you learn how to use your money wisely, and how to take care of yourself. Sometimes I wish I had a job to give me a bigger social life and to get my own money.
ReplyDeleteAre we ever really independent or are we interdependent? How could we go about teaching children the value of being personally invested and making wise financial choices? Whose responsibility is it to do so?

I think it is amazing how your point of you changes once you get your own money what you have worked for. You shop differently, and you get absolutely shocked when you see how much money it costs to get groceries for example.
ReplyDeletei agree with you 100%, but what if a kid say no to the money but every two they see a deposit even though they have a job? r they still independent?
